The United Way of Greater Knoxville 2010 Campaign Kickoff was the first official event hosted by the new Tennessee Terrace at Neyland Stadium.
Our campaign chair, Mike Hamilton, set a high, but needed campaign goal of 12 million dollars! Supporters agree that our community needs the funds and is worth the cost! Donations go to support Health care, education, basic needs, and efforts to pull individuals and families from poverty. Last year the United Way helped more than 100,000 people!
This Sunday you will find an insert in the News Sentinel describing the work of United Way and a card you can return to pledge your support! Tomorrow Neyland Stadium will be packed with as many people as are in need of your support in our community.
Today’s event drew speakers from the TN athletics department: Derek Dooley, Pat Head Summit, and Bruce Pearl pledged their support.
Coaches Summit and Pearl were generous to give autographs to fans.
Coach Summit said that the United Way is her biggest charity. She said "to whom much is given, much is required".
Mike Hamilton stressed the needs in our community and how each of us can help!
Large orange banners with photos of players, fans, and the field decorate the terrace. Here are a few more photos of the new terrace and the view to the field!
Give,
Planner Girl:)
